Staged baroque opera scenes and dramatic cantatas


For singers ages 18-35 *


Private and class instruction in:

•  Ornamentation • Recitative Style •  Career preparedness


This program focuses on operatic, oratorio, cantata, and song repertoire of the baroque era, with numerous opportunities available to students to perform this repertoire.

Students in Baroque Opera Boot Camp participate in frequent master classes with Festival faculty and guest artists in topics such as baroque repertoire, the baroque aesthetic, historic performance practice, 18th century Italian poetic structure and rhetoric, baroque movement/dance/stage gesture/theatrical conventions. Individual instruction includes nine (9) private voice and/or coaching lessons in the cost of tuition for full-session participants.  Schedules permitting, students may arrange for additional private lessons with a teacher or coach at the rate of $75 per 45-min. lesson.

Students attend Festival concerts free of charge

Performance opportunities for the Baroque Opera Boot Camp program include concerts of Bach and other cantata and opera arias, plus participation in a staged production with orchestra.
