Cabaret Conservatory
7-day, 14-day, and 24-day sessions

For singers ages 16 and up *
7-day, 14-day, or 24-day programs led by veteran Broadway conductor and LA Musical Director Tom Griep, with AMDA - LA music director James Lent, and Guest Artist Jonathan Sheffer. Sessions begin on Saturdays between June 20 - July 13, 2015.
This program offers detailed and progressive instruction in "telling your story in song" and developing a solo cabaret act, beginning with the selection of song material best-suited to your voice and stage persona. Next, the songs are perfected vocally, stylistically, and dramatically through intensive coaching and master class analysis. Students will receive instruction in creating connecting monologue ("patter") drawn from personal experience. Finally, students will study the production and marketing of a solo cabaret show. Instruction for a 7-day program includes four (4) private lessons in the cost of tuition. Instruction for a 14-day program includes seven (7) private lessons in the cost of tuition. Instruction for the 24-day program includes eleven (11) private lessons in the cost of tuition. Schedules permitting, students may arrange additional private lessons at the rate of $75 for a 45-minute session.
Students attend Festival concerts at no charge.
Singers will participate in concerts, and will construct, prepare, produce, and perform a 20 min. solo cabaret act of their own.
