Chan Mi Jean


Chan Mi Jean, a native of Seoul, Korea, is currently pursuing DMA in collaborative piano at University of Wisconsin-Madison, studying with Martha Fischer. She recently completed M.M. and Performer Diploma in Indiana University.

Ms.Jean’s competition path began in Xi’an, China in 2005, where she won Xi’an Conservatory Young Artist Piano Concerto Competition. She was also the winner for KMTA Young Artist Piano Competition in both 2008 and 2009, and won the second place in MTNA Steinway Young Artist Piano Competition Southeast district. She was also awarded Honorable Mention for the 2015 Shain Woodwind-Piano Duo Competition. She performed in several cities in China, Thailand, Czech Republic, and in the USA.

While pursuing her degree, Ms.Jean worked for the Indiana University Opera Theater as an opera coach and rehearsal pianist in shows such as Massenet’s Werther and P. Q. Phan’s The Tale of Lady Thi Kinh, which was a world premiere in February 2014. Ms.Jean is currently working as a teaching assistant for UW-Madison's opera program and was also an opera coach and rehearsal pianist in Britten’s Albert Herring and Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte in 2014-15 season.
